形態特徵

• Culms geniculate, ca. 2 mm in diam., hard.
• Blade 7-8 cm long, 10 mm wide, hirsute on both surfaces; ligule rounded at upper part, ca. 1 mm long, hispid abaxially; sheath margins and mouth of sheath densely ciliate.
• Inflorescence of 3 racemes subdigitately arranged. Spikelets paired, monomorphic; upper pedicellate, pedicels nearly as long as spikelet; lower one sessile 4.5-5 mm long; rachis and pedicel slender, ciliate on margins. Glumes subcoriaceous, as long as spikelet, lower linear-lanceolate, 2-keeled, shortly ciliate on keels, upper deltoid, 1-keeled, acute, upper fioret minute, ca. 1-1.5 mm long; lemma linear, chartaceous, ca. 1 mm long, with an awn of ca. 3.5 mm long, arising from tip of lemma; palea membranaceous, lanceolate ca. 1.5 mm long.
• Caryopsis cylindrical, ca. 1.5 mm long; embryo 1/2 its length of caryopsis.
• Similar to <i>Microstegium vimineum</i>, but the entire plant and spikelets much larger. Perhaps an extrem form of <i>M. vimineum</i>.
